Cannondale R 900 - 1993 modelI got this bike as a birthday gift from my brothers for my 30th birthday. The first rides on this bike was done north of Houston, Texas during December 1992. The bike is now used for training in bad weather, since it has been replaced by a new bike (see below). Some people complain that the Cannondale frames are too stiff for longer tours. But I have not had any problems with using this bike for The Great Trial of Strength from Trondheim to Oslo (about 540 km) and The Tour of Jotunheimen from Lærdal to Sogndal (430 km). Two times I have broken the replaceable dropout. The first time a man living next to the place where it happened, drow me home. The second time I had to call my wife and ask her to pick me up. This time the deralleur was caught in the spokes. This caused a damage to my frame, but not bad enough to make the frame unusable. I had Loc-tite in the small crack caused by the accident. During a maintenance of the back wheel during the spring 2002, I noticed a crach in the right chainstay. The crack has occured after the accident where the dropout broke. The chainstay was almost off at the crach, so the bike was put aside and later fixed. A friend of me welded the crack. I still wonder how long I have been riding on the bike with a chainstay that was almost off... I have used the bike several times after the frame was welded, and it seems like the welding is OK. However, I still have to check the welding after each ride.
