Q: |
Is there a way to designate a database file as default so that when
opening the program it loads automatically? As it is now you have to
load your data file each time you start the program...a minor
inconvenience yet it seems one which could be eliminated easily.
|
A1: |
Create a shortcut to the program on your desktop. Right-click on the shortcut and select
"Properties". Click on the "Shortcut" tab and add the name of the database file after
the text in the target field.
If the "Start in" field is empty, you must specify the complete path to the database file.

A2: |
In version 4.3 you can set a flag that tell the program to automatically load the last
used database.
To set this option, start the program without loading any database. Then use the command
"Application options..." found in the File command menu. Check the "Automatically load
last used database" check box.

Q: |
Importing of heart rate data directly from a download would be nice
feature. As of now I use another program for downloading HR information
and then manually transfer that information into Velocipede. Even being
able to transfer something like a Polar data file would be helpful.
|
A: |
I have plans for creating such a feature. I have been in contact with Polar about the format
of theire datafiles, but they want about 1000 USD from me before they will give me the information.
I plan to do some reverse-engineering on the the datafiles from the Polar and other monitors.
I'm afraid I can't tell you when it will be possible to import HRM data to Velocipede.

I was noticed today, while entering a new trail, that you have a attachment feature, could you:
- program in .PDF file types, (i.e. run Acrobat Reader)
- or allow the user to specify the .exe program to run for certain file types.
|
A: |
You can add any file you want. When you want to view the file, Velocipede just tell Windows to launch the program that
handels the .PDF file types (or whaterver type the file have). When viewing a file attachment that has a .HTM extension, Explorer or Netscape (or whatever browser you have) will be launched. If the extension is .DOC, Word will start.
The same mechanism is used when viewing report files. The file extension determin which application that need to be launched in order to view the file.

Q: |
I have been using Velocipede 3.x for a long time. When looking at 4.0 I could not find the spoke length calculator under the Tools menu. Is the spoke length calculator removed in version 4.0
|
A: |
No, spoke length calculator has not been removed - only the command under the Tools menu. To use the calculator, go to the Wheels dialog using the Wheels... command in the Manage command menu. Select a wheel and then click on the "Spoke legth calculator" button.
