FAQ

Registering the program

If you want to register your copy of Velocipede, you should print out the file REGISTER.TXT, which is included in the distribution file. You can also print out the register form in the help file. Fill out the form and mail it to me together with the registration fee.

The registration fee is US dollar 30. The registration key you recieve will be valid for the current major version (currently 4). A new key must be ordered when the next major version of the program is released. The registration key from previous version (major version 1, 2 and 3) will not work for version 4.

Please note: I will send the registration key to you by e-mail. Make sure that you're e-mail address is correct and is working. People who have e-mail accounts with limited space, must make sure that they have enough space to receive new e-mails. Also, if you have any kind of spam filters that can reject mail from unknown users, please make sure that mails from my domain will pass.

How to pay

Depending on where you live, you can pay in different ways. The biggest problem for me are the norwegian banks - they don't like checks unless their own name is printed on it. Therefore they charge me a lot to cash or deposit the check.

redball Norway

Payment can be deposited in my bank account (contact me for futher information). The amount should be in Norewgian Kroner (NOK) equal to the registration fee in USD (see registration form).

redball Scandinavia

Payment can be deposited in my bank account (contact me for futher information). The amount should be in Norewgian Kroner (NOK) equal to the registration fee in USD, plus NOK 35 (to cover fees I have to pay to recieve the money!). The SWIFT code is DNBANOKK.

redball Europe

Do NOT use Eurochecks, since I have problem with the checks in norwegian banks (high fee when depositing the check). Use cash (USD 30 or 30 Euro) - it is the cheapest way for both you and me, and it work (see below).
You can also try to use Postoffice if you can, see above.

If you still want to use checks, see Rest of the world.

redball United States of America

I can accept ordinary (personal) checks as long as the check can deposit in my brothers US account. If not, see Rest of the world.

redball Rest of the world

You might consider to get an American Express International Money Order made in Norwegian Kroner (NOK) equal to the registration fee in USD plus NOK 50 (to cover fees I have to pay to deposit the check on my bank account (I know, it's crazy, but that is what they charge me)).

A better way is to put the registration fee in USD in the envelope together with the registration form. This way is probably the cheapest way for both you and me. About 40% of the registered users have paid this way. If you choose to do so, make sure that you can't see the money inside the envelope. You should also notify me by e-mail that you have mailed me the registration fee in cash.

If you are in doubt, e-mail me first.

Where to send it

The registration form and fee should be mailed to:
Jørn Dahl-Stamnes
Okstadbrinken 1
N-7075 Tiller
Norway

About using cash, one user said it this way:
"Please find enclosed my registration form and fee for Velocipede. Note that the money has passed through "Wheelsmith", and so they are blessed with bicycling holiness. They only need to be taken up Alpe d'Hues to become truly holy" - Steve.

I made this! Jørn Dahl-Stamnes.
